Right after your injection, your lips may appear:

• More swollen than your final result
• Uneven or “lumpy” in areas
• Slightly bruised, especially near the corners or vermillion border

These symptoms are normal and temporary. Swelling is part of the body’s natural inflammatory response and typically resolves within 3–7 days.

Day 1 – Immediately After Injection

• Lips look very full (due to swelling + product)
• Numbness from topical anesthetic may linger
• Bruising may appear at or near injection points
  

Tip: Use a clean ice pack for 5–10 minutes at a time. Avoid excessive talking, exercise, or alcohol.

Day 2 – Peak Swelling

• This is often the most swollen day
• Some patients feel tightness or minor lumpiness
• Bruising may darken temporarily
  

Don’t panic — this is the worst it will look, and you are still healing.

Day 3–4 – Swelling Starts to Settle

• Lips start to soften and shape appears more natural
• Bruises begin to fade (purple → green → yellow)
• Mild unevenness may persist

Day 5–7 – Final Results Begin to Emerge

• Swelling is mostly gone
• Lips feel more like your own

Any lingering lumpiness often resolves with gentle massage (if advised). We’ll check symmetry at your follow-up.

Do:

• Ice gently (first 24–48 hours only)
• Sleep on your back with head elevated
• Use arnica gel or bromelain to reduce bruising
• Stay hydrated and avoid salty foods

Avoid:

• Kissing, drinking from straws, or excessive lip movement (24–48 hrs)
• Alcohol, aspirin, or ibuprofen for 48 hours (unless prescribed)
• Hot yoga, saunas, or facials for at least 5 days

Most lip fillers last 6 to 12 months, depending on:

• Product used (e.g., Juvéderm, Versa, Restylane)
• Your metabolism
• Your lifestyle (frequent movement = faster breakdown)
